The state, rich in railroad history, and even today is home to several important main lines, particularly those heading east and west.The Iowa Interstate Railroad is a large Midwest Regional Railroad. The IAIS trains travel 470 miles over former Rock Island trackage from Chicago, Illinois to Council Bluffs, Iowa.
